Secretary of State Ken Bennett: I am an Arizona constitutent, having been registered to vote here since 1972–making me almost a born-again native–and I have a request: Please stop making Arizona look so foolish and backward. Please stop making us, again, a laughingstock of the country. Please stop doing such inane things that we’re being awarded “the stupidest state in America” on national talk shows.
You say a constitutent, who you can’t remember, asked you to vertify that President Obama was born in Hawaii. But you claim you are no “birther.” Then why did you ask a question that has been answered a thousand times already–one so completely answered, “yes, he is an American citizen,” that the Legislature of Hawaii has said it will no longer even respond to such nuisance requests.
Not only has Hawaii released both the long and short form of his birth certificate, but there’s also that newspaper clipping announcing his birth in the regular live birth column. Yet, some say this isn’t enough. That there’s a conspiracy to hide the truth that he was really born in Africa.
For their “conspiracy” to be true, back in August of 1961, doctors, nurses, a hospital and a newspaper had to conspire to create a false impression that little Barack Obama had been born there because these fortune-telling folks realized that 47 years later, this child of a black father and white mother would become president of the United States.
Tell me, Mr. Bennett: On what planet does that make any sense?
No, you aren’t responding to a “constitutent”–you’re trying to pander to the Tea Party that has beaten this dead horse to a pulp because it can’t stand President Obama–and let’s just try to think of some reasons that might be.
Well, I’m a constitutent too. And please remember my name. Jana Bommersbach. I have a constituent request: Stop shaming Arizona.
Jana, you are so right. How much more can these morons do to embarrass our state. I have been here even longer than you, 1963, but I can never get my mind around of the idiots who run our state. I thought Ken Bennet was one of the more sensible republicans but, duh!
