Killing off Big Bird will save enough money to fund the federal government for 1 hour.

One hour. 60 minutes. 3,600 seconds.

Gov. Romney, in a moment of great enthusiasm during Wednesday’s debate, said he’d cut spending by ending federal dollars to PBS, even though he liked Big Bird and debate moderater Jim Leherer from PBS.

Social media went nuts on the Big Bird thing–that’s what’s great about social media, it cuts through so much crap. The chant went up to “Save Big Bird.”

I’ve got a new chant: “It’s the math, stupid.” Romney obviously thinks he’s going to save lots of money but killing the contribution to PBS, which is the ONLY children’s education program available to many American children. That isn’t true, but then, little of Romney’s “facts” were on Wednesday night.

That was no surprise, but this is: Ending every cent the federal government contributes to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting would save enough money to run the federal government for one hour.

Count me in on the effort to Save Big Bird!!!
