The name is already tripping off my tongue: Senator Carmona. This good and decent man–the first real adult I’ve seen in Arizona politics for a looooonnnnnngggggg time–will bring some respect and credibility back to Arizona, which has lost so much in the last few years.
I’m wondering how many times Republicans cried in their beer–or their chablis–that he should have been THEIR candidate, and oh, how did they lose him to the Democrats. They lost him to the Dems because the Republican Party has entered a painful stage of dementia–they’ve forgotten what cooperation and compromise mean and have drunk the toxic kool-aid of ideological intolerance.
Senator Carmona isn’t like that. That’s why he’ll be the Democratic U.S. Senator from Arizona after tomorrow.
